Born from the Nutrition for Growth Summit with a mandate to transform nutrition financing

The Power of Nutrition was set up by the British Government, the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation and UBS Optimus Foundation in 2015 with a mandate to transform financing in the neglected sector of nutrition. Since then, we’ve leveraged more than half a billion dollars for the sector including bringing in vital new funds. We’ve done this through strategic partner engagement, pooling funds and leveraging resources from multilateral banks and governments.

OUR MODEL

How we create impact

Our vision is a world where every child has the right nutrition to achieve their full potential. We do this by raising money and creating partnerships to tackle malnutrition in Africa and Asia so communities can thrive.

Convening partnerships

We build partnerships that enable us to co-finance and co-design national nutrition programmes in countries with the highest need. We match sector partners together to best suit the communities we work with.

Scaling impact

We pool funds and create financial leverage so we can invest in bigger programmes that break down traditional silos in international development.

Designing sustainable solutions

We design and run programmes in partnership with local governments through to local communities, ensuring local ownership and long-term sustainability.

Learning through monitoring and evaluation

We ensure rigorous monitoring, evaluation and learning in our programmes, to ensure our programmes have the greatest impact possible and that knowledge can be shared.

OUR ADDED VALUE

Convening partnerships to deliver scale

We convene partnerships between private and public sectors, institutions and civil society to support mothers and children across Africa and Asia. By pooling funds and creating financial leverage, we’re able to invest in bigger programmes that break down traditional silos in international development. Our programmes are run in partnership with local governments through to local communities, ensuring local ownership and long-term sustainability.

We achieve greater scale through convening funds and leveraging established relationships with our reputed network of donors and implementers.

We maximise our impact through a multisectoral approach that tackles the multiple drivers of malnutrition and supports all progress towards all the Global Goals.

We ensure long-term sustainability through working hand-in-hand with local governments and communities to embed programmes into long-term plans.

Our nimble approach and flexible model allows us to work with a wide range of partners to co-design programmes that create sustainable change.

We bang the drum for the nutrition sector – raising awareness of its importance and advocating for its prioritisation.
