The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has announced it is hosting a global food security summit this November.
Responding to the announcement, Jim Emerson, Interim CEO at The Power of Nutrition, said:
“We welcome the recent announcement that the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is hosting this important summit.
For too long, nutrition has been side-lined in international development – this event shows that it should be a key focus not just for the UK Government, but for its international partners.
The UK Government has a strong track record of leadership in this area – our organisation was founded by its vision to tackle global malnutrition through innovation and global partnerships.
This event offers an opportunity for the UK to steer the global agenda on priorities for preventing hunger and malnutrition. At a time of rising food insecurity and malnutrition, it’s more important now than ever that the event is a platform not just for talk, but for real commitments and action.
The Power of Nutrition will continue to work alongside the UK government to put ‘policy into practice’, delivering reach, leverage, impact and new funders to the nutrition sector.”
