ANRIN AIMS TO REACH 1.8 MILLION PREGNANT AND LACTATING WOMEN AND 6.8 MILLION CHILDREN UNDER 5 YEARS ANNUALLY.

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

The Power of Nutrition and the World Bank are supporting the Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ANRiN) programme by establishing a pool of Bank-Executed Trust Funds (BETF) to provide the Nigerian government with the necessary tools and technical support to enhance the capacity of Federal and State Governments to deliver ANRiN.  The BETF support will enable the Government at all levels to:

  • undertake effective action to improve nutrition outcomes for poor women and children;
  • increase and leverage financial and programmatic commitments towards improved nutrition impact;
  • harmonise the efforts of development partners support to nutrition programs.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES

ANRiN aims to reach 1.8 million pregnant and lactating women and 6.8 million children under 5 years annually with high impact nutrition interventions.  The enhanced technical assistance financed by this programme will help ensure quality nutrition-specific interventions are provided to lactating women and children.

 

HOW SUCCESS WILL BE MEASURED

  • Number of new pieces of knowledge/evidence disseminated within Government
  • Establishment of formal mentorship relationships formed across states and/or between states and academia
  • Number of high-impact nutrition interventions with evidence-based cost-effective community-based delivery platforms brought to scale
  • Future investments by Government of Nigeria is informed by ANRiN evaluations
