Keith Hansen named The Power of Nutrition’s first President in the USA

Prominent global health systems expert joins The Power of Nutrition (USA), Inc

The Power of Nutrition (USA), Inc., a section 501 (c)(3) corporation, committed to ending the cycle of undernutrition and stunting in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia, is pleased to announce that Keith Hansen is joining as its inaugural President.

Keith has long been a champion of improving both the finances for, and the outcomes obtained by, the public and private sectors in eliminating the barriers in the health systems that have been an impediment to human capital development. He is a renowned health and nutrition expert who has held senior positions in large international organisations, such as the World Bank. Keith will play a vital role as The Power of Nutrition expands its presence, most notably in the lead-up to the Nutrition for Growth Summit in Japan in 2020.

The Power of Nutrition provides a unique platform for partners to come together to bring about major changes to end stunting. It is able to multiply resources four-times, and by working with private and public sectors partners it can fund high impact programmes that break the cycle of malnutrition to support mothers and their children during a critical time of their development.

Mike RannMike Rann AC, CNZM, Chairman of The Power of Nutrition UK, said: “Keith Hansen is a prominent practitioner within the global health arena, and we very much welcome his agreement to take up the role of Chairman of the independent Foundation, The Power of Nutrition (USA). I look forward to working with Keith over the coming years.”

Martin Short, CEO of The Power of Nutrition, said: “Having worked with Keith for a number of years, he has always provided important guidance and leadership in the area of health systems and their strategic direction. He brings a great wealth of knowledge and experience which will help The Power of Nutrition work towards eradicating stunting.”

On his appointment as President, Keith Hansen said:

“As we continue to strive to improve the lives and livelihoods of those with the greatest needs around the world, it is important that we use all innovative mechanisms at our disposal to achieve these ambitious objectives. The Power of Nutrition has a unique and compelling platform and a proven track record of private sector engagement. I look forward to joining this driven and impressive team as we enter 2020 and move towards the Sustainable Development Goals in 2030.’’

Keith holds a Master of Public Affairs degree from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University, a law degree from Stanford University, and a Bachelor in Political Science degree from Yale University.
