The Power of Nutrition is delighted to announce that Iain Simpson will be joining the team as Director of Communications in mid-February of next year.
As a member of the senior management team, Iain will lead the development and implementation of a communications strategy that aligns with our twin priorities of raising new money for nutrition and investing it in high-impact nutrition programmes to drive dramatic improvements in child nutrition. As part of this portfolio, he will also be responsible for driving the evolution and influence of our brand and messaging; creating and maintaining supportive partnerships, including with our partners and the media and overseeing broader external positioning.
Iain has a track record of delivering excellent communications results for international organisations and foundations working in global health and development. He has worked with the leaders of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Gavi, Unitaid, the World Bank and the World Health Organisation, among many others. Most recently, he has been working at Omidyar Network in London. Prior to that, he was a strategic communications consultant working primarily on global health issues, with clients around the world, including in New York, Geneva, Japan and London. Before setting up his consultancy, Iain ran the global health communications team at the Gates Foundation in Seattle and at WHO in Geneva. He began his career as a foreign correspondent, reporting from Cambodia, Vietnam and across Southeast Asia for the BBC and the Financial Times. He has a degree in English from Oxford University and a Masters in Asian Studies from the University of Hong Kong. Iain speaks fluent French as well as basic German, Spanish and Mandarin.
